how to organize a wardrobe

5 tips on how to organize a wardrobe: save time and space

How many times have you said to yourself ‘I have nothing to wear’? It’s quite likely that your wardrobe is not as organized as it should be, which makes finding clothes a daily challenge. And the fact is that thinking about how to organize a wardrobe is one of those household chores that never seems to be a priority, especially when there is very little space within which to organize it. If you want to go from chaos to order, the best idea is to take advantage of the change of season, roll up your sleeves, and get the most out of your wardrobe once and for all.

Today we would like to share with you 5 simple tips on how to organize a wardrobe, making maximum use of the space.

Distribute your clothes according to how you use them

Change of season, change of wardrobe. Select those garments that you only wear on specific occasions during the year and which are just taking up space. Store them in boxes and put the boxes in the area above the wardrobe, leaving those items you really use more easily accessible.

*Tip: Use transparent boxes or boxes with labels so that you can see at a glance what’s inside without having to open them all and rummage.

Even if it hurts … get rid of those garments you never wear!

It’s not that you have nothing to wear, it’s that… you don’t know what you have! We tend to accumulate a lot of clothes, and sometimes finding anything at all can be a real challenge. Who doesn’t keep old clothes that have sentimental value? But do you really think you will ever wear them again? It’s time to take them out of the wardrobe and have a clear-out. Why don’t you donate them to charity?

Everything visible

Another tip for organizing a wardrobe is to fold light garments in three and to store them vertically in the drawers. This will release a lot of storage space and will allow all of your garments to be visible, which means you won’t have to turn the wardrobe upside-down every time you are looking for a specific item. As for heavier clothes such as coats and trousers, hang them from the rail in the wardrobe using narrow hangers that take up as little space as possible.

Colour harmony

If your wardrobe is made up of a wide range of colours, it can be highly effective to order your garments in a chromatic sequence, e.g. from lighter tones through to darker tones. Make things easy for yourself!

Make use of every corner

Don’t underestimate the space you can gain by using the inside of the wardrobe doors. One idea is to use hooks from which to hang the accessories you tend to use every day such as belts or scarves. This will make them much more handy and you will save time in the mornings by not having to try and find where you left them.

Remember that the key to all this is constancy: try to maintain order in your wardrobe on a day-to-day basis so that it doesn’t end up being a ‘problem’ again.
